Open Question: Is there anything someone can tell me about hedgehogs?

I'm thinking on getting an African Pygmy Hedgehog from the pet store in town (marion ohio) because I can't find a breeder close by. Is there anything anyone can tell me beside the obvious? I've looked at many websites and I'd just like to get some info from people who have owned them. Also I have little siblings, are most well tempered around little kids, maybe even baby's?
