Railfanning Marion, Ohio - 11-4-11 (Part 1)

On a windy day in November, I headed up to the diamonds at Marion with my friends and fellow railfans Tony and Jim. The day turned out to be a success, seeing 10 trains and all, 9 being caught on video. Here are the first 4 of the day. Train 1: A northbound NS coal train heads north, led by two GE's. Some interesting high-top hoppers on this one. GE C40-9W #9349 GE C40-9W #9780 Train 2: Another northbound NS passes us, this time a mixed freight with two GE's and an EMD trailing. GE C40-9W #8995 GE C40-9W #9220 EMD SD60M #6790 Train 3: A westbound CSX mixed freight comes through the diamonds, led by a pair of YN2 Dash 8 widecabs. Apologies about the beginning of this one, but I couldn't help but go running after the ex-Conrail horn. :P GE C40-8W #7385 GE C40-8W #7729 Train 4: An EXTREMELY long NS mixed freight goes southbound, with all 4 of the GE units pulling. Listen for the GE air compressor "whoop" as the 4th unit goes by! GE C40-9W #9197 GE ES40DC #7570 GE C40-9W #8891 GE C40-9W #9696 The next (and last) 5 trains will be in another video. Look for it soon!
